Selenium is an essential trace mineral for humans, necessary for several important biological processes. It is an essential component of the glutathione peroxidase, one of the body’s defenses mechanisms against oxidative and free radical damage.

The Selenium yeast Lynside is an excellent source of bio-available selenium, containing more than 99% of organically bound selenium, 84% as selenomethionine. Produced from pure strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae on highly purified nutrient source, it offers more bioavailable selenium than inorganic forms of selenium. 

A scientific opinion from EFSA was adopted on July 2008 for ”Selenium-enriched yeast as source for selenium for nutritional purposes in foods for particular nutritional purpose and foods (including food supplements) for the general population”. The positive conclusion of this opinion relates only to selenium-enriched yeasts in compliance with certain product characteristics. Selenium yeast Lynside corresponds to this description.
